Privacy Policy for DownHaul Archive

Last Updated: April 8, 2026

DownHaul Archive ("the Extension") is a self-hosted companion tool designed to help users locally archive and back up content they have legally accessed on Patreon. This Privacy Policy outlines how the Extension handles data.

1. Information Collection and Use

The Extension only activates when explicitly triggered by the user from their configured DownHaul dashboard. When activated, the Extension extracts specific website content from the active Patreon page.

The extracted data strictly includes:

  • Post Metadata: Titles, publication dates, and creator identifiers.
  • Website Content: The HTML body text of the post.
  • Media Assets: URLs for embedded images, attachments, and third-party video players (e.g., Vimeo, Wistia) contained within the post.

2. Data Transmission and Storage

The Extension does not transmit data to the developer, Google, or any third-party analytics services.

The Extension transmits the extracted website content exclusively to the user’s configured, self-hosted DownHaul backend server (e.g., a local server or a user-owned domain). All data is stored privately by the user on their own hardware.

3. Personally Identifiable Information and Authentication

The Extension does not collect, read, or transmit the user's name, email address, passwords, or authentication tokens. It relies on the user's existing, active browser session to access Patreon content natively.

4. Web History and Tracking

The Extension does not monitor, collect, or track the user's general web browsing history. It only interacts with the specific Patreon page URLs that the user explicitly requests to archive.

5. Third-Party Services

To resolve direct video files for archiving, the Extension may make programmatic requests to third-party video delivery APIs (such as Vimeo, Wistia, and Streamable) specifically to parse video configuration files. No personal user data is sent during these requests.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.

7. Contact

If you have any questions or suggestions about this Privacy Policy, please contact the developer via the official repository or support channels.
